Supported Decision-Making introduces participants to California’s Supported Decision-Making Act and explores how to support people as decision-makers of their own lives.

Supported Decision-Making aligns with the HCBS Final Rule, which emphasizes choice and decision-making as foundational principles. Participants will discover how to understand people’s decision-making processes, recognize effective support, share a variety of available decision-making options, and use practical tools and resources to honor what matters most to people and how they want to lead their lives. Through interactive sessions, participants will develop an action plan to bring this learning back to their own work and communities.

Supported Decision-Making training is an essential opportunity to ensure that everyone’s preferences and decisions are always respected and valued. This training is recommended for service providers, people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, family members, regional center staff, and any interested community members.
