Meet Maria

Over the next several lessons, we will follow Maria and her support workers as they use the one-page profile to balance what is important to Maria with what is important for her. Let’s meet Maria:

Maria

The person-centered tools help you to collect the information you need to support a person to a live a life that matters to them.

Ambitious

She is working hard to become a hairdressing assistant and currently gaining work experience in a local salon on a Saturday. 

Independent

Maria works hard at doing things for herself; she likes to shop in a local supermarket where she prefers her support staff to wait at the entrance. However, on one occasion Maria became confused, scared and lost.

Making plans

Maria’s team manager was concerned and started to make plans for her never to do anything unsupported or on her own. However, Maria and her support worker Harry think that they can make it work.
